What types of UFO rumors are popular in Japan? I think we should base it on existing cases.

I've no idea. Japanese culture being what it is, the UFO 'fringe' is relegated to a small niche sector of fanatical enthusiasts, mostly cloistered on shady Internet forums. There's not much of a military-industrial complex to stir up conspiracy theories like in the US, either.

I'll have a look around and tell you what I find.

I'm sure the UFO phenomenon is somehow part of japanese popular culture, too. Even if it's intermixed with tentacle hentai elements. Fair enough, I take everything that is fun to read :D

There is one thing I can work off of without going explicitly hentai: there's a popular urban legend that the so-called 'Goggle Dogu' clay figurines found in old Japanese tomb complexes actually depict ancient space-men. Since I can't do ancient Japanese, I figured I'd do a newspaper article about the 'kidnapping' of some woman (presumably, abducted by aliens); the article would feature testimony by the woman's daughter/son that 'Mommy was taken by space people' or smth like that. Thoughts?

The Dogu are already in there. They practically got their own alien species, called the Exiles :) Shimmy has painted them and everything.
And yeah, the article should work. A newspaper article is a good idea.
