Infantry Rifle of the future by biometal79 Infantry Rifle of the future by biometal79
Time for a new weapon.
Somewhat inspired by the no-nonsense configuration of the terminator plasma rifle (but still with added non-sense, though), this futuristic combat rifle is based, yet again, on alien technology.
Basically a pulsed-electron-beam automatic that causes both kinetic and electrical damage. Uses a conventional battery for cost-reduction, as E-115-power sources exceed the budget of most customers. The power mags are inexpensive compared to a E-115 power source, but rather heavy to carry.
Fires fast and has a good capacity due to the extraordinary yield provided by the unique mechanism. Accuracy is average, somewhat below that of a well-maintained assault rifle's, but effective ranges are similar.

Sweet man, this is just badass! First original design I have seen in a while. I draw my own gun concepts too, check out my page if you want :)

As a particle beam, why does it have projectile spread? Wouldn't its range limitations be dictated by blooming? I don't see how accuracy could be impaired...

Where did you learn that, in brony science academy?

...was that supposed to be an insult, or...?

Well, no, but it's a concentrated beam. The ray should follow exactly where the emission port is pointing until something on the outside acts on it.

As far as the actual art goes, it kicks ass- but as an engineer I am highly intrigued as to how you would further explain the design of this particle beam weapon... This is coming from a guy who built a railgun out of three amps and a car battery. :P

very nice design, I can see the plasma rifle influence, but it goes its own way, excellent details.

This reminds me of the weapon that the terminators use in T2.

Very cool, well done

That's pretty awesome. I also love designing futuristic weapons, glad to find a similarly-minded person online :)

nice, i think it could use a charged up beam for full blown EMP on vehicles

I can see a weapons like this being popular in smaller 3rd(?) world countries military forces or used by security corp.

Makes big holes in soft targets and kills electronics at the same time... so:
Very.

Okay. I love the design, but my little brain is baffled. I fail at scifi somtimes, and weapons most of the time, and I can't figure out which .. thingy .. fires. The one on the top for sure, but is the nozzle thing on the bottom like, a second chamber? Like is the energy and the kinetic damage 2 seperate shots? >_> Or is it an igntion source like on a flamer? @_@

it looks like a laser sight or maybe a range-finder

laser sight! That makes sense. The coffee had not set in yet. For some reason I was thinking upside-down scope. Haha. :D

And which well-maintained assault rifle are you basing the range on? ;P
